How to Get Rid of Varicose Veins

Are you wondering how to get rid of varicose veins?  Varicose veins are unsightly. They appear as twisted bluish-purple veins that criss-cross your legs. If you have varicose veins, you may be apprehensive about wearing a short skirt or shorts because you don’t want anyone to see the network of veins on your skin’s surface.

What Causes Varicose Veins? How Do You Get Rid of Them?

Standing and walking make varicose veins form as you get older. In addition to being a bit unsightly, they also often ache and hurt. In some instances, varicose veins increase your risk of developing a blood clot. Treatment often involves self-care but the veins never go away.

Sclerotherapy and Laser Treatments for Varicose Veins

If you are tired of your legs aching or just want to be able to wear shorts again then it is time to seek out varicose vein treatment. Sclerotherapy and laser treatments can easily remedy the appearance of varicose veins and make you want to wear a dress again.

Laser Treatments for Varicose Veins

At the Vargas Face and Skin Center, we use laser technology to reduce the appearance of varicose veins and broken capillaries (spider veins). Our laser vein treatments are done entirely in our office. You will experience absolutely no downtime and very little discomfort. You will be able to return to work and normal life activities in no time.

How Does Laser Treatments Work?

During a laser treatment, the doctor will target the varicose veins with a strong burst of light using the laser. The light enters the vein and makes it slowly fade and disappear. No incisions or injections are required. You will feel no pain or discomfort.  The laser causes scar tissue to form in the vein to cut off the blood supply. The vein shrinks and faces away. The wonderful thing about laser treatment is that you can walk immediately afterward. Normally only one treatment is required but a large vein may require a second laser session.

Sclerotherapy for Varicose Veins

Smaller varicose veins will benefit from sclerotherapy. During the treatment method, the doctor injects a solution into the varicose vein that causes the vein to scar. This closes the vein so that no more blood floods the chamber. Within a few weeks, the treated vein’s appearance improves dramatically. This is also a common treatment for spider veins.  Please remember that a larger vein might require more than one injection and treatment session to effectively eradicate it. Sclerotherapy is performed in the office and there is no anesthesia required. You can return to normal life activities after treatment.
