Blepharoplasty for Men

A blepharoplasty is a fancy (i.e. medical) name for an upper or lower eyelid lift. By targeting the excess fat and skin that exists around the eyelids, an upper or lower blepharoplasty effectively repairs the natural contour of the eyelid to give you a tightened, youthful look that erases years from your face.

Why Eyelid Surgery?

There are many reasons why men would choose to undergo a blepharoplasty. The primary candidates for an eyelid lift are men who have:

  • Sagging, excess skin on the upper lid
  • Puffy lower lids
  • Fine wrinkles on the lower eyelids
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Droopiness of the lower eyelid

Some men also elect to have additional procedures done in conjunction with a blepharoplasty, like fat grafting to the eye area, laser resurfacing to treat eye wrinkles and/or a brow lift for an overall transformation to the upper half of the face.

The Blepharoplasty Procedure

How does a blepharoplasty procedure work? Eyelid surgery is a fairly straightforward procedure performed while you are sedated. Dr. Vargas will hide the incision in the natural crease of your eyelid or lower lash line. From there, she will remove any excess skin, tighten the muscles, or reposition fat deposits to achieve the desired results.

Recovering After Your Surgery

Your initial healing may include bruising, swelling, irritation and dryness. Dr. Vargas will give you specific instructions for how to care your eyes post-procedure as well as medication to help treat any pain or discomfort. Your final results will start to show after several weeks of diligent sun protection and healing.

Your Consultation

Dr. Vargas has met personally with hundreds of men to discuss their unique blepharoplasty needs. Your consultation will be no different. You and Dr. Vargas will sit down for a one-on-one consultation in her Kansas City office to decide which procedure is best for you and your aesthetic goals. Schedule your consultation today!
