When you’ve reached your 30’s, chances are good you’ve tried your fair share of products in hopes of having perfect skin. Maybe some of them worked for you, of course, some didn’t. Then again, maybe you’re only now just beginning to think about what the future holds in regards to your skin and you’re trying to do all you can now to repair the lack of effort in your past.
No matter the reason, today is as good as any day to start taking great care of your skin. And great care starts by knowing what skin type you fall in. Skin types vary by person, and can even vary depending on the seasons or even hormonal change. Once you see what skin type you are today, don’t assume it will forever be your skin type. By giving your skin proper attention, you’ll be able to see if you’re starting to notice your skin getting drier or oilier as time goes on.
Daily Skin Care Basics
It’s time to talk about what you should be doing each day to properly take care of your skin. Create a skin care routine and make sure you do each step twice a day. I recommend a cleanser, toner, Vit C, and a form of Retin-A. Of course moisturizer’s are important along with SPF. If you have oily or combination skin, stick with a gel based or foaming cleanser. Those of you with normal or dry skin will do best with a cream based cleanser. Toner’s help balance the PH of your skin, but my personal results tell me that you should listen to your skin and figure out what works best for you. You can decide how you feel about toners and go from there. When you hear Vitamin C, think anti-aging…
- Cleanser AM & PM
- TONER- restore the Ph of your skin before applying any treatment products.
- Vit C- You need vitamin C for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of your body. It helps the body make collagen, an important protein used to make skin.
Once you hit your mid 30’s and up, you may start noticing early signs of aging, such as laugh lines or possibly slight wrinkles around your lips and down your forehead. While it’s too soon to freak out, it’s not too soon to start taking care of your skin and step slowly into the anti-aging products on the market. Sun Exposure Will Cause Wrinkles
It’s true! Safe sun exposure is your #1 way to fend off time as long as possible. 90% of premature aging is caused by UV rays. Don’t take chances any longer; use sunscreen daily. It’s important to reapply as needed throughout the day, and don’t forget to apply it to your hands, as they are the real age teller.
If puffy eyes, dark circles or minor laugh lines are a problem, an eye cream may be the answer. If you do use an eye cream, make sure to use sunscreen carefully. Most eye creams do not have SPF, so if you don’t add SPF, you’re eyes will be exposed making premature aging of your eyes a real possibility. The 30’s are a prime time for motherhood and fatherhood, so if you’re up all night with the baby, chances are good you do have a dark circle under the eye problem.
It’s important to know the limitations of skin care products and Botox. Both of these work “best” when used as preventative aging or Maintenance and that’s why in your 30’s is prime time to take notice of those wrinkles that are starting to creep in.
What to know about BOTOX injections:
If you feel that the moderate to severe lines between your brows and around your eyes make you look over-worked or tired, BOTOX injections may be the right cosmetic treatment for you. What Is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time (temporary).
BOTOX® Cosmetic is administered by a healthcare professional as a simple, nonsurgical treatment that is injected directly into the muscles between the brows. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form between the brows.
