MicroPen Treatment

The highest quality products and the latest in skin care technology are part of the skin care evaluation and skin rejuvenation program at Vargas Face and Skin Center in Kansas City. The use of the SkinPen during micropen treatments is one such example.

What is SkinPen?

SkinPen is a state-of-the-art micro-needling tool that stimulates your skin’s natural ability to produce new collagen, and can be used to improve the appearance of acne scars, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, fine lines, wrinkles and other skin texture issues. Micropen treatment with the SkinPen allows us to control the skin’s self-repair process by triggering new collagen synthesis without causing scar tissue formation.

The Benefits of MicroPen Treatment

Micropen treatments can reverse years of sun damage, improve the appearance of acne scars, stretch marks, and hyper-pigmentation, as well as enhance the overall appearance of aging skin. Plus, it works on all skin colors and types and patients see results almost immediately.

Things to Know About MicroPen Treatment

The number of procedures will vary depending on your individual goals and the health of your skin. The average patient receives a series of three procedures four weeks. We recommend that patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars, undergo six to eight sessions every four to six weeks.

MicroPen Q&A

The MircoPen is a micro-needling tool that creates a small injury to the skin causing the natural process of cell renewal. This treatment helps to produce new collagen and elastin. This treatment helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, improve acne scarring, and pigmentation issues.

Most areas can be treated. Usually individuals treat the face, neck, and chest.

Most individuals need a series of four to six treatments spaced about a month apart. It is very important to stay on schedule with treatment to achieve the best results.

The skin is topically numbed prior to treatment and usually patients can only feel a vibration during treatment.

Topical numbing is applied to the treatment areas and left to numb for a specific amount of time. The numbing is wiped off and gel is applied to help aid the needling. The entire area is treated and topical skincare is applied post treatment.

Post-treatment redness is normal and usually subsides by the next day. Most often patients can apply makeup after 24 hours after treatment.

Any procedure that addresses cosmetic needs is not usually covered by insurance. Special cases such as trauma may be reimbursable in part or whole. It is the patient’s responsibility for pre-approval of coverage and to process the claim for insurance.
